Casa de Lopez

Casa de Lopez
This was the first two-story adobe in the Valley designed in Victorian motifs by Catalina Lopez and built as a two-story building by her brother, Valentin Lopez, in 1882. This was the home of Geronimo Lopez and Catalina Lopez who came from their previous home kown as the Lopez Station. The earlier home was the stage stop for travelers on the Fort Tejon Road through the valley. It was there that they established the first English speaking school, the first general store and the first post office in the Valley. In their new home they printed the first newspaper in the Valley in 1889. The Lopez Adobe is furnished in original Victorian furnishings. There is also a museum with changing displays.
